The fall colors are all gone now, but not too long ago the side roads and highways were a mass of oranges and reds and yellows. One thing I've noticed since I've moved to the area is how many trees there are, and it's amazing in the fall when everything changes color. Driving down the highway to Parkersburg is almost like riding down a fall colored water slide where the sides go up high above your head. On both sides of the road it's just warm colors all the way to the sky.
Read MoreLaura and Josh made my job easy: they are the opposite of camera shy. Instead, their fun antics only increased in front of my lens. During their engagement shoot, they broke out into skipping and hoping straight out of West Side Story. They are so comfortable with each other that I don’t think it would be possible to take a bad photo of them.

Read MoreIf you keep up with the area music scene, or listen to Spotify, you’ve probably already heard of Anthony Mossburg. I recently had the chance to photograph the release party of his new Album Crazy at the People’s Bank Theatre in Marietta.
Read MoreSome of my best memories from childhood was listening to music with my Dad. In a little nook by the fridge, under the cabinets, he had a black cd-radio combo stereo bought from our local Radioshack. About 6pm he'd pull out a CD from behind the kitchen door and load it in. Smoking cigarettes out the window he'd play song after song as I sat on the counter and listened to whatever artist he taught me about that night.
Read MoreI love stories, and I love music. I love it best when the two are combined. When I was young, I would spend hours after band practice sitting in my basement and listening to my father's worn out vinyl of Jesus Christ Superstar. It wasn't (and isn't) a soundtrack. It was narrative in song. Since then I've discovered, and loved, similar albums such as Drive-By Trucker's Southern Rock Opera. I've just fallen in love with this whole genre.
Friday, I had the opportunity to learn about another great addition to my list.

The 39 steps is full of lightning fast humor that the Flying Circus would be proud of. It's the type of quick wit that you have to be at the edge of your seat to catch...
Read MoreOne of the coolest things about living on a major river is the sternwheelers: big boats driven up and down the Ohio River by a huge steam-turned paddle wheel. It's like the little pedal powered swan boats that I puttered around on a lake, but on steroids.
Read MoreWhile I love these colder fall days, it does make me think back to the warmer summer months, when Marietta still had green leaves and small festivals seemed to happen every weekend. On one such weekend Marietta became a gathering place of beer-drinking outdoors(wo)men. The wonderful Hallie of Marietta Adventure Company, whom I love working with, organized the River, Trails, and Ales Festival: four days of paddling, biking, drinking, and music for the enjoyment of Southeast Ohio.

Read MoreI've been photographing for colleges since I first picked up a camera and, honestly, it's the best way to watch students develop. As I photograph all of the events I see certain students repeatedly, and start to watch their college life unfold. I can look back and watch these students grow up, from movie-in to commencement, and everything in between.

Read MoreAs the cold finally arrives in Marietta, I think back to my last Christmas in the sunny state of Georgia. I traveled down to visit one of my Brother-in-laws and his family, and spent a week enjoying Savannah in shorts all the way through the holiday season. It was a wonderful change from every other year of snow, and slush, and cold.
Read MoreUsually I photograph those whom I've only just met or have known for a few months, but on occasion I get the opportunity to photograph people who have been dear to me for much longer. Sara and Jake have welcomed us to the state and welcomed me to their family. They are a little piece of home in a new area of the country, and I couldn't be happier to photograph such a wonderful family!
Read More2pm, and cold. Really cold. I’m standing in a swimsuit at the edge of a very questionably murky lake holding a camera and watching the opposite shore where canoes are being prepared to be pushed in. As soon as I’ve braced myself to start wading in, it starts to rain.
