To the Marietta College Class of 2019

I've been photographing for colleges since I was a student myself, and honestly, it's the best way to watch students develop. As I photograph all of the events I see certain students repeatedly, and start to watch their college life unfold. I can look back and watch these students grow up, from move-in to commencement, and everything in between.

This year I've already photographed Marietta College's incoming first-years at their Summer Orientation sessions, and now I'm gearing up for Welcome week. Early Sunday morning, those same students will sleepily arrive to start moving into their new home away from home, say goodbye to their parents, and join the Long Blue Line. The following three days will be spent forming their first friendships during high ropes courses and whitewater rafting at ACE Adventure Resort, before spending the rest of their week learning about the college and the Marietta community. I'm excited, because I'll be there for all of it, and as the next four years unfold and I photograph them cheering on the basketball team, performing chemistry experiments, or going Greek, I can look back and see their mud-coated smiles from the obstacle course on their first day (as long as I'm careful not to fall in myself). For now, these photos show how you can make the most of your college experience. Marietta has a lot to share with you in the coming years, and you have a lot to give right back.

Welcome, Marietta College Class of 2019. Have fun, and I can't wait to see you around!
