Toting My Camera Through the Mid-Ohio Valley

Marietta Hall, my new home.

Marietta Hall, my new home.

As you might have already heard, I’ve just made the big move across the country to Ohio, yet another state named after water and, just like Nebraska, has the white-tailed deer as its state animal. Marietta is now the city I home, and it’s only slightly larger than my hometown of Beatrice. It’s also home to Marietta College, a sister institution to my Alma Mater, Doane College.

The Sternwheel Festival is one of the many reasons why I love Ohio.

The Sternwheel Festival is one of the many reasons why I love Ohio.

I’ve been been here for just over a month and already I’ve taken thousands of pictures. I’ve photographed first year students moving into college, and them completing service projects around across the city. The county fair brought a little bit of home with animal auctions, food stands, and demolition derbies.  The Sternwheel Festival gave me photographs of old-fashioned paddle boats lined up on the river, and the fireworks above them.  It’s definitely been an adventure!

Who doesn't enjoy fair food and a rodeo?

The best news is that I'm now within driving distance of Athens and Columbus, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. If you have any photography needs in these cities or the surrounding area, you know how to find me!  I learn new things about this beautiful part of the country every day, and I'm looking forward to getting to know the people here better through my lens.

While I’m excited for these new opportunities, it also means leaving many loyal fans behind in the Nebraska area. I cannot express enough how appreciative I am for the love and support you all have given me. I hope you will all continue to check in through the website, Facebook page, and Instagram to spy on my adventures here in Ohio. I am willing to travel, and will be back periodically, so don’t hesitate to contact me to see if I’ll be in town.

With care,
Nate
